My Facebook Marketplace Find!

Sometimes, I look at FB Marketplace just to see what they have.  There are certain things I look for, such as interesting mirrors, silver flatware, furniture.

Tim's been wanting to get me a secretary for several years, and I've looked around at used furniture stores, and on FBM but hadn't really found one I liked.

Yesterday, I saw one I liked and it had only been listed a few hours before.  I talked to Tim and we decided to check it out.  I contacted the seller, and we took a 30 minute drive.

Needless to say we brought it home.

It has a few minor scratches, and a few sticky spots that I am sure will come off with orange oil.

I'm loving the compartments inside and it even has the key to lock the drawers and desk.

Tim and I have doctor appointments this morning then I hope to get to styling it later.

The family arrived for dinner - Tim grilled all our meats and everyone brought food to share.  It was so good.

Kaidence slept most of the time, but Grandpa got a few smiles out of her, and I caught part of one here.

We temperatures in the 90's and high humidity we spent most of the day indoors.  A thunderstorm moved in and made everything much more pleasant.

At dusk, we headed outside for fireworks.

Our neighbors were shooting fireworks too, so it was really fun to feel like we were part of a big celebration.

John Adams said in a letter to Abigail, after they'd written the Declaration of Independence -

" I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival.  It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty, it out to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, and Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires, and Illuminations from one end of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

I couldn't agree more!

  6. I have an identical secretary that belonged to my grandmother. I have enjoyed it for many years. As a child, it fascinated me with all the little cubbies and "secret compartments." Hope you enjoy yours too!

  7. Looks wonderful. Everything but the top could be a twin to the one in our bedroom. I love dusting the curvy drawers. I doubt ours ever had the cabinet on top. Yours is in excellent shape!
