Physical Therapy

This rose has nothing to do with PT but its pretty.

I have some degeneration in my spine due to an old injury.  I've known that for nine years, and when its hurting I treat it with Ibuprofen.  It sometimes hinders my activity, and I sit more than I used to.

The reason I need PT is that for the last several years, my hip flexors have gotten very tight, (due to the sitting) and over time they have hindered my mobility.  Recently I've begun to have some secondary (or is it third?) issues, due to the tight muscles pulling on tendons etc.

So,  I stupidly put it off hoping it would resolve itself, even though Tim really wanted me to go to the doctor.  Well, he has a tendon issue in his knee, so we both went to see the nurse practitioner on Friday and she recommended PT for both of us.

She says its going to change my life and I'm hopeful it will.  We will be starting this week or next, and will end up with exercises to do at home as well as the sessions at the office.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I'd love to hear your PT stories, if you're willing to share in the comments!

  1. I'm taking PT for an injured knee. I did too much walking one day some months ago and it never recovered. What a difference, truly, my PT sessions and exercises at home have made to my well-being. I'm strengthening weak muscles and getting help for the tight hip flexors … it's made a world of difference already.

I wish you all the best in your sessions … yes, you will see a huge difference, I'm pretty sure! You'll be glad you went, and if you're like me, you'll be wishing you'da gone much sooner. But now we know better. xox

  2. No personal experience, but I have heard many great PT success stories. Kati is one of them. She had PT to deal with a Morton's neuroma and it was a huge help!

  3. I was helped immensely with knee pain due to RA issues with my feet that caused knee pain. Had about 4-6 weeks of PT and was given exercises to do at home plus some steroids applied with a small attached battery - don't remember what it was called. All helped immensely!

  6. I too have had some issues that I put off for too long. I go to PT now and it's helped tremendously. I hope you have the same experience.

  7. I see a physiotherapist quite regularly and am so pleased by what she does. I supplement at home with exercises. If I didn't I think I'd stiffen up into a crochety old woman. I hope you have good experiences, too.
