Thoughts and Links

There is so much whirling around in my head and in my life that I want to share with you, but when I sit down to write it I feel incoherent but I will try to make sense of it all for a post tomorrow.

Today, I have a few links to share with you.

I came across this one yesterday trying to link back to the originator of the Elisabeth Elliot quote I shared on Saturday.  It took me to this page - www.pinstamatic.com  - looks like the perfect place to make photo and word photos to share on blogs and Pinterest.  Speaking of Pinterest you can find my boards here.

Have you ever gotten a wonderful comment on your blog and want to reply to the commenter only to find they are a no-reply blogger?  Here is a link to an easy tutorial to change your status and make it easy for bloggers to respond to your comments.  Remember you don't have to use a personal account to link to, you can use a gmail account or other account set up just for blogging.

Lastly, a friend linked to this great article regarding religious liberty and liberty of conscience that I thought brought out some aspects that make it more than just a 'Christian' issue.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I wanted to add that I know that there are many reasons that some bloggers and commenters are no-reply, and I didn't want anyone to think I was criticizing them for that choice.  I just know that when I started I didn't even know about any of this until someone mentioned it to me - so I thought I would include this link in the event someone didn't know this information perhaps they would find the tutorial helpful!

  1. Thanks for the links! I wish that everyone would stop being a no reply commenter, but there are sometimes bigger reasons or so I'm told. I'll have to check out the Pinstagram...looks interesting! The last article's author seems to represent a logical viewpoint; however, it seems only to be discrimination when Christians or Jews express their beliefs. I'm getting so cynical.

  2. I appreciate the frustration that some bloggers feel when someone asks a question regarding a blog post and then they find there is no way to respond to the question because the person who commented is a no-reply blogger. However - and I'm not accusing you of this! - some bloggers have made those of us who deliberately want to remain no-reply feel we are wrong in that decision, that their way is the only way.

My choice to remain no-reply is simply because I do not want just anyone who might run across a comment I make to be able to send me spam or other inappropriate emails. There is absolutely no way to protect myself from such should I change that status. I do not want to set up a separate email addy just for blogging because I already have three. In my case, all someone has to do is continue to click through until they come to my blog, then click the link on my blog to send me an email.

The other option for bloggers who wish to respond to a comment or question from someone who is no-reply is simply to respond as part of a blog post.

Thanks for letting me vent my frustration. There are always two sides (at least) to every story.

  3. I do love the quote you shared on Saturday! That question goes right to the heart.

I will have to explore the links you've provided. I'd love to find an easy way to add words to a photo or button. I seem always to over think when choosing fonts for such things.
