Ponderings

So, I've been pondering things in my heart lately.  I have always loved that term the scripture uses regarding Mary wondering about the things she was hearing about her baby boy.

I pondering things in conversation with the Lord, not prayers necessarily, but more like "Why is it that...?"

Some of my ponderings have been about the future regarding family, the economy, our business....

I have been pondering and storing up in my heart the relationships that God has given me with people.  I am thankful for my family, thankful for friendships that are an encouragement.  This includes friends that I only know online.  It is such a blessing to walk along in this world side by side with you!

We've been pondering our business, and praying about the direction we'd like it to go....

God has allowed us to live in these days...the days in which it seems that good is called evil and evil is called good.  It is challenging to raise our children in this culture, it requires us to pray hard for protection for our children from the enemy of our souls whose only goals are to 'steal, kill and destroy.'  Just about the time I think this must be the worst time in history to live, I am reminded of Solomon who wrote in Ecclesiastes "there is nothing new under the sun."  Evil and sin have been around for a long time, and the goal of the enemy has been the same - steal, kill and destroy.

And yet...our God is still in control.  He still protects.  He still leads.  He still gives wisdom.  He still provides.  He still empowers.  He still loves.  He still saves.  He still is worthy of glory and praise.  He still casts out fear.  He still heals.  He still has the victory.

A new to me blog that I have been enjoying is Like Mother, Like Daughter.  Here is a good post of ponderings that I say a hearty amen to!

What sorts of things have you been pondering lately?  Feel free to share them in the comments.

Nothing nearly as "meaty." Off to follow your link. I must say that I am glad that I do not have the responsibility of raising children in this time...then I think of my grandchildren and fret plenty. Still, all that I can do is pray and do what the Lord asks me to do.

Pondering is the perfect way to describe what I have been doing lately.
As I read your wonderful post, I realized that for me- even that can get out of balance- unless of course pondering is praying.

This was wonderful.

Pondering....I like that word too.

There is much to be thankful for....there is much to pray about.

I'm glad for the fellowship of other believers with whom we can share our concerns and our joys.

I have been pondering mostly about the same things you have shared. And like you I am brought back to the realization of Who is in charge. This is my Hope, to know that God, does and will have the final say! The thoughts you have shared today bless and encourage me. I too am so thankful for my online friends Thanks for the link!
Blessings,
Sue

I came a little while ago but it appears that my comment froze on my screen. When I came back in the room, there it was.

Probably a good thing since I shared too much of my pondering.

We'll just let this comment say that I'm pondering stuff of the mid life homemaker sort.

When the harsh events somewhere get me down, I remind myself of all the good people out there, including my blog friends. Good people are in the majority and in church I am reminded of how many good works people are doing each and every day.

I like the word pondering and I think a great many of us have been doing it lately....There is just *so much* going on in the world right now that it can make your head spin and a body fret.

Until I take my thoughts captive and bring them into the obedience of Christ.

WONDERFUL post Deanna......

I wandered over here to your blog from The Country Blossom....and I'm so glad that I did!!

This is so true! I have been doing much 'pondering' as well..over some of the same things. :) Your reminders of God's promises are so true...He is the same, yesterday, today and FOREVER!! :) I saw a saying on Pinterest that I loved, something like this..."If you have a problem, have you been praying about it as much as you've been talking (or worrying) about it" I loved that!

Thank you for the encouragement! I've saved you as a Favorite, so I'll definitely be back soon :)

At the top of my pondering list these days is my son's family as they drive and drive and drive across the country! They have one more full day of travel...and then a shorter drive for the last day. I will be a happy mama when they are safely in their new place!

I am so grateful for God's grace and protection on them thus far!

For the past 1.5 years - at least - I have been pondering the lack of discernment among Christian women.

"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths." (II Timothy 4: 3 - 4)

I see this all around me, and from women who should know to examine teaching in the light of Scripture. And woe to anyone who dares speak against these popular teachers! I am saddened, and spend time pondering what to do, how I might be able to help women see the truth. At the same time, I realize I need to spend time in the Scriptures so I can better see error and speak the Truth.

Weighty thoughts indeed.

Happy Christmas Adam!

We had a lovely Christmas service yesterday at church. Then we took the girls home, we came home and I made Monte Christo sandwiches for l...
