Places That Inspire Me

Do you have places that inspire you?  I do.

For me inspiration, that calls to my creative side, can be found many places books, Pinterest, blogs, and even stores.

Yesterday, Rachel, my mom, and I went out to do a bit of shopping.  This was not Christmas shopping, I wanted to go to Trader Joe's and to Whole Foods and both are about an hour away.  Since we were going to be in that area anyway, I planned a stop at a store that inspires me.

Terrain.

Now this store is pricey, and I don't often buy anything, but I find the items creatively displayed, and inspiring.

When you walk into the store, you are greeting with flocked trees and other trees towering to the roof with lights and all kinds of treasures on them.

Its a winter wonderland, and it makes my creative spirit come alive!

It draws me in

I look at the prices of the lights and know they are not in my budget, but I enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of the tree.  I also realize that in a year or two they will be available at a price I am willing to pay, should I decide to light my tree in this way some year.

Some of my quick iPhone snaps don't do it justice, but I had to try to capture it for you.

I've seen several friends who are loving these metal houses.  This was like a farm set up and the greenhouse had mini plants in it.

Here's a close up -
I think the plants were real as one of the things Terrain specializes in is terrariums.

There were mini poinsettia, mini roses -  so pretty and tiny.  They wanted me to bring them home, but I resisted.  I know of a more local place selling the mini poinsettia's, at least, at a more budget friendly price.  They would make sweet hostess gifts.

So, do you have places that inspire your creativity?  Lets chat in the comments.

  1. Oh my! What a place to visit and allow imagination to soar if not coveting, which might be my problem if I were to visit such a place.

  2. I love an "inspiration" store! I have never been to Terrain, but it looks lovely and creative. Williams Sonoma is one of those stores for me. I drool over the table settings! The prices are prohibitive (hey, I set tables for 18 people!), but I can take the inspiration and run with it!

  4. A few years ago, my "inspiration store" went out of business - it was a greenhouse with an inside part that was always over-the-top with merchandise that inspired and elicited many ohs and ahs from me. Apparently not enough people bought from them because I heard they went bankrupt! Terrain looks to be a WONderful place. (Wonder if we have any around here?????)

  5. What a neat store to browse and find inspiration. I can spend hours looking in stores without the need to buy anything. A couple of garden centres still open inspire me with all the plant material and gift items.
