Happy Summer!
I hope you had a good weekend. Did you all get to celebrate the Fathers in your life? We did, plus we celebrated two of the grandgirls birthdays on Saturday!
I made a huge baked ziti, Rachel made a yummy green salad, and we had garlic bread, Lindsay made scones to go with our local strawberries and whipped cream, Kayleigh brought drinks, and chips, and leftover birthday cake from Kamryn and Klaire's joint birthday party on Saturday. Lots of yummy food.
We also played Quirkle and Skyjo all afternoon on Sunday.
I got my dad a mug that said, "Great Job, Dad! I Turned Out Awesome!" It was appropriate! {grin}You can find it here. Remember the tshirt I bought him last month for his birthday? You can see it here. I'm thankful for my dad and his lifelong love of learning. Even at 82, and some memory issues, he reads, watches the news, and stays up to date with what's happening in the world.
Tim and Nate ended up with fun tshirts from that company, too, and Tim also got a mug, and a new drink cooler to take with him when he works. You can find it here.
Tim always says the only thing he wants is to know his children walk in truth. That is still our goal, and how we will pray for our kids and kids in law.
Our goal with our adult kids is relationship. We want them to want to come for gatherings and celebrations, and they usually do. They are free to have their own plans, for example Wes and Rachel usually go to Tennessee to have Thanksgiving with his family. They usually get to see Emma and her family, too, while they are there. Lindsay and Joseph sometimes are with his family, and sometimes because we all live close they'll spend time at both.
This coming weekend I think is the pool weekend. We have had to get permits, and it has to be inspected once its up, but then we're going to want summer to heat up so we can swim!
I'd love to hear how your weekend went? Were you able to be together and celebrate?

I think you just got this pool, and that is why you have to have inspection, etc.
At first I thought..... We have had our pool for nearly 50 years, and never had to have any more inspections... Since then.
It's an in-ground Gunnite pool. And that is why it is still working 50 years later!!!!!!
We had a big meal, played games and chatted by the pool. It was a nice day with our kids. And you're getting a pool?? Awesome!! I highly recommend!! Let the summer fun begin!
That is really amazing! My son has one and I hope it last that long for him!
I continue to be impressed with the y'all do 'family!' Love that you still play games together. And that you make allowances for the adult chidlren to make holiday decisions without upsetting everyone. My Amber used to dread the holidays because there were so complicated trying to please everybody. As their children were all born - at the same time!- she also wanted to celebrate her own family. It took a few years to sort it all out and her biological father is no longer in the picture (Louis Dean officially adopted Amber when the babies were still very young) but she has set some bounderies and it is working fine. Her MIL wanted all the holidays and all at her house so it took some time to change that expectation. I have always said I will host whatever works.....and I am glad that Christmas Eve is and has been the time they all try to come home. I also host Good Friday so they don't have to choose where to go for Easter and, as it has happened, we all usually go to Amber's. Same thing with Christmas dinner. She and Mike host and it is usually late in the day.
Loved seeing the pic of your dad. AT nearing 85, Louis Dean is also having some memory issues and I pray everyday for God to give him clarity of thought and keep him strong and healthy.
Love you and love your dear family!!
Sounds like a marvelous Father's Day. All the dads honored well and the camaraderie of family.
Thanks for the mention of the games. I am always on the look out for fun, new ones.
Such fun to read! Sounds like a wonderful weekend. Ours was nice too. I just blogged about it, so won't take time to say a lot here, but yes -- my hubby was well celebrated and we enjoyed family and friends too.
Our weekend was quite busy. We had our annual Grand Summer Sleepover, I attended a bridal shower for a friend's daughter, and we hosted our Father's Day celebration! SO thankful for these days . . .
I am glad that you were able to celebrate the dads in your family! You're getting a pool? How fun! Your house will definitely be the place to hang out!
