Emma's Baby Shower

There are many different kinds of ways to welcome a baby, and share the excitement with the new parents.  Some throw a 'sprinkle' after the baby has been born and the guests bring gifts for both baby and mom.  Some do as we did and celebrated by helping Emma prepare for her coming baby.

I had planned to host the shower outside under our beautiful maple trees.  Our weather this summer has been so beautiful.  But this weekend it got HOT and HUMID, and we didn't want to keep with that plan and make us all feel miserable, so we moved it inside.

Now we've hosted large groups before and we don't blink an eye but never for something where you want to make sure everyone can see the guest of honor.

We ended up moving the big farmhouse table out and bringing a smaller table in.  I used the mantel to set up for tea, and the counter for gifts.  The food went on the table, along with a strawberry lemonade punch.

Lindsay took a lot of photos, and when I get them, you can be sure I'll post them here!

I can't wait for this sweet baby girl to make her arrival in just a few more months!  October is now going to rival May as our big birthday month.  Emma is due on the first, my birthday is the 3rd, Kay is due the 6th and her birthday is the 7th!  Fun! Fun! Fun!

  2. Soooo pretty!! And I see that you got the bunting made! I love it! Good job with making everything work for an inside party. Sometimes it's hard to change tracks when your mind has been going in one direction, but I am sure your guests (not to mention the pregnant mama!) appreciated the cool venue on such a hot and humid July day.

Oh, I know everyone is getting really excited! A shower and those sweet tiny gifts make it feel even more real!

  3. What a blessing is coming your way! Such a joyful occasion! I have always said that nothing can beat the excitement of a new baby in the family. So precious! Your cake looks scrumptious and I love the blue jars hanging with lights in them. Lovely shower, Deanna! Thank you for sharing and linking and have a wonderful week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  4. What a joyous celebration! Your dessert probably fared better inside without the humidity! It all looks so pretty. How did you do the little lights in the canning jars? It looks like you and I have similar glass plates with cups--mine were my mother's, are yours old? There's just nothing quite like them for the purpose they serve! Glad it all went well!

  12. The strawberry cake looks totally delish! I'll take a big slice please, with a cup of tea.

I believe I am spying Old Country Roses in the assortment of teacups. I love that pattern. We call it The Princess Diaries teacup, as it makes an appearance in that movie.

These are fun and exciting days for Emma. I hope the remainder of her pregnancy is smooth and healthy.

    Blessings,
    Patti
