Welcoming The Change Of Seasons

Autumn is my favorite season, though I do like the other seasons as well.

I've learned over the years to welcome each season as I would a friend.  My friends are not all the same, and each one brings different joys and personality to my life. I think it's the same with the changing seasons.  Each season is full of gifts to give us joy if we will just have the eyes to see them.

The autumn season makes my heart sing in a way that the other seasons do not.  Maybe its because I was born in the autumn?  I love the cooler weather, the bright blue sky, the changes in the trees. I adore being outside in the autumn, when there is little chance of sweating to death due to humidity.

I love campfires and hayrides, I love wearing a sweater with my outfit of the day, and getting to wear my cute boots.  I love the scents of autumn; pumpkin, clove, cinnamon.  Here is a essential oil blend that I diffused yesterday.  It smelled so good in here!

I know that some, who have short summers, long to hold on as possible to the hot days of summer. I get that.  I really do.  For us Autumn seems to be our shortest season.  The mild days, after summer, don't last too long most years.

So I hope you don't get too tired of seeing autumn posts from me.  I plan to share recipes, oil blends, outfits, and decor.  It's going to be such a great season!

Remember, in this year where so much has changed and there is much is out of our control, our attitudes and the way we think about things IS in our control!

Happy Wednesday Friends!

  1. Must be time to stock up on my essential oils. That sounds like a good recipe. Your header is lovely, Deanna.

  2. Pretty new Autumn header! And I love to read the Gladys Taber books (You mentioned a quote of hers in your last post). She wrote seasonal books from her farmhouse in CT.

  3. I also love Autumn once I'm in it...but I go "kicking and screaming" into it because I'm not ready for the short summer here in Minnesota to be over! However, this year because I was decluttering my home and going through the holiday items, I did go ahead and put out my fall decor so I wouldn't have to access the totes later. It's helping me be ready sooner.

  5. Autumn is by far my most favorite season as well - but it is always soooo short.

This year- perhaps due to Covid, or cooking and baking and gardening sooo much more than normal years - I am truly digging in my heels and not giving up on summer just yet.

I figure I have all of October and November for the decor, so I am waiting till at least it cools off. I usually let the corn tell me when - if it has turned to golden hues and browns it is time to lug up my boxes of autumn decor. Till then I wait and enjoy summer for as long as possible!!!

I am getting inspired tho, can't lie about that!

    hugs.

  6. New England girl here, even though I've lived in New York for 45 years. But the changing leaves always has a special place in my heart. Bring on the pumpkins and the first crisp morning!

  7. It does not feel like autumn here yet (more like extreme summer!), but it must be around the corner, right? To sort of enjoy both seasons, Bekah and I indulged in a Starbucks pumpkin cold brew today. SO good!

I will not get tired of autumn posts at Creekside Cottage!

  8. I was born in the fall, too, and do love the season. But I hate to rush it because summers are so short here. We're experiencing a bit of a heat wave just now and through next week - it's lovely. Nights are cool.

  9. Your pumpkins are gorgeous!! Do you think whatever season a person is born is - is their favorite? I was born in September and fall is my favorite season. Summer was an October baby and fall is her favorite season. Ben and Amber were both born in the summer - and guess which season they love?? Maybe this isn't true for those with winter birthdays - but maybe it is!
