Rainy Days

Woke to a rainy morning. There is a high chance of rain until noon, then still a chance but much less of one until mid afternoon. We have had so much rain. May was the heaviest month with over 9 inches! The gardens and farm fields love it, though I think the corn went in later than normal.

I was hoping to pot up my deck flowers for summer today. We went to a local garden center on Saturday and they already had their annuals on clearance sale! Glad I got a chance to get deep red petunias and white petunias for the deck rail planters, and I got some pretty zinnias for my cement planters that go in the front garden. I'm trying to get that all done and set up before Sarah's bridal shower in July! It's about a month away but its moving fast now!

Yesterday we celebrated our dads in the family, and we celebrated Kamryn who turned 15!

She's petite and its easy to forget she's not a little girl anymore! She wanted Lemon Cake so I made her one and some cupcakes with my Lemon Buttercream frosting! Delish!

How have your summers been? Have you had a lot of rain this year? What about summer temperatures? Overall we've been pretty cool. We've had a few days here and there of hot weather - Nate and the girls swam one day last week - but mostly mild temps and grey skies!

After The Rain

This morning is a bit hazy, it may be partially cloudy all day, but the rain that came and dropped 4+ inches is gone.

I can't quite capture it, but this small red tree is so stunning.  It is in my sight every time I walk in the kitchen.  I see it out the sliding door to the deck.
I took this with my phone from my deck this morning.  They aren't great but they give you an idea of the beauty in the changing leaves that I am experiencing at our home.

I am hopeful that the chairs and table on the deck will dry up and I'll be able to sit outside and enjoy the beauty.

How is Autumn coming along where you live?

Rain

It's a gully washer, as my dad likes to say.

Rainy Day!

Enjoying a day at home.  Rain, school, Chicken and Pasta for lunch, tea.  Auntie playing with Kamryn, legos, plastic bowls and blocks.  Lots of play.  Now it's resting time and Tim is reading The Two Towers.

Now I need to look for Note Card Party photos.  I'm thinking of old Spring flower photos.  See you tomorrow!

You Wouldn't Want To Be Creekside Today

This is what our creek looked like 10 minutes ago...while the rain was pouring down.  Lindsay had to cross the creek earlier this morning to feed the horses, it wasn't so bad then.  Fortunately, once the rain ends it will be a nice flowing creek once again.

All photos by Lindsay Rabe, of course!

Rainy Day

We had a beautiful weekend here.  The weather was perfect for Spring.  Friday it was even almost hot!

Tim and the kids spent Saturday cleaning up the yard, freeing it from winter debris such as branches, twigs, leaves...it looks great and in a few weeks it will be time to mow again.

Yesterday, my Dad took the girls to look at a pony at a local horse rescue.  They liked him, but are going to look at him a few more times.  So we will see.

It is raining today.  I need to take Kayleigh to work.  My throat is sore and thick and my sinuses hurt.  I think overall we will have a quiet school day, doing what is necessary, but keeping it low key.  Lots of tea, lots of rest.  Sounds like the perfect remedy to whatever is trying to ail me!

Sarah, Rachel and I started watching "Pride and Prejudice" last night - the Colin Firth version.  I think we may finish that today as there will be very little outdoor activity today.

I have spent some time this last week reading online about some issues of belief and doctrine, one involving a home school Bible curriculum writer.  You can read more about that here. We must ask the Lord for Wisdom (James 1:5-8), and not depend on our own wisdom.  I have some very deep concerns over many of these issues.  I am praying that God will make clear His truth.

I am so thankful that I belong to Him.  He is good.  Praying for the current events in World History as well.  Japan's earthquake and tsunami, which affected the U.S. and other countries on the Pacific Rim - the Middle East, especially Libya.  So much to pray for, gratefully we can take it all to the Lord.  He holds it all in His hands.

Well, that is a lot of pondering on this rainy day.  Time to get myself moving. Have a great day!

It's Raining, It's Pouring....

It is pouring outside, right now!

After many weeks with only a small amount of rain, we have been getting rain everyday.

It is great for our gardens, and I know the farmers love it!

However, running out to let the dogs in from the dog run, can be quite an experience!

information Friday

This photo is from a few years ago and later in the autumn. The lights in the trees were for our Fall Fest that we host every year. I thin...
