Sharing My Heart

I was thinking about why I blog. I started my blog because I wanted to be able to share with our family and friends around the world, what is going on in our family.

I delight to be able to share my joy of being a wife and mother, to share what the Lord has taught me. I like sharing how to decorate on a budget, and to talk about our homeschooling.

I also delight in passing along good links to messages or websites that I have found to be challenging, or that I have been encouraged by.

Sometimes I share my heart, never, ever with the intention of gossiping or tearing anyone down. I myself have been in leadership positions, I know what it is like to be the subject of gossip or disdain. I won't do it. If you feel that I am doing that please contact me personally, through email.

I pray that my blog will be a place of blessing to you, and a place that you feel encouraged in your walk with the Lord, in your role as a wife and mother.

Now, in the spirit of wanting to share and encourage you; right now I am listening to a message by Voddie Baucham that gives me hope, chastises me, and makes me say amen. You can listen to it to here. This message reflects what our desire is for our family.

  2. I was just thinking about this today. Do I have a purpose to my blog? Should I get one? No, I'm just going to write because I can and because God makes it a ministry - not me. I'll try to check out your message link tomorrow. My brains have about had it for today =) Blessings... Polly

  3. I couldn't hear anything when I went to that link. It just showed the microphone. I am so glad you are being built up and encouraged.

    Blessings!

  4. I love your online cottage, MrsRabe. :o) You are a lovely lady with a sweetness that bubbles from your soul.

I listened to the Voddie Baucham message (the Jeremiah 29:11 one) earlier today and was blessed.

About leadership and those murmurings from others that go with it...how do you handle it?

  5. Becky, It takes awhile to load for some reason. If you get a chance to listen to it again, try it - it's very good.

Lady Jane, sometimes it is hard. I find it helps to have a good board that helps to back up the final, "buck stops here", decisions that are my responsibility to make. I find that it takes guts to sometimes know about "rumblings" and to ignore them. When it becomes an issue to be dealt with it can be awkward to be the one to confront it, especially if it is not about a decision I have made but more about me personally. I am not talking about where I may have given true offense, but where someone decides that my kids "never" get in trouble etc...

We have had these kinds of things over the years off and on. I find that these are people who never come to talk to you personally about something they are concerned about, rather they would talk to others about it. That is gossip.

I pray alot and ask God for wisdom. I am thankful for the other ladies on our board, who've "got my back" so to speak. For the most part we don't have alot of this, but it does happen.

Other than that, God has given me a heart for homeschooling and for supporting others who are homeschooling. My heart is for these moms. I believe this is evident to them, also I am committed to "keeping it real." I share my failures as well as my successes. That makes me accessible, not on a pedestal.

I resist the pedestal because I would be battered and bruised daily as I fall off of it!
