I'm Not Martha....

But we do share a love of home keeping and sewing. Who knew, me and Martha! Anyway, I found this amazing book "Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts" at Costco yesterday. It has all sorts of sewing projects, from baby bath towels to wrap skirts, to bags. It has a cd-rom which has all the templates for the projects, as well!

Emily was looking at it last evening and decided to try the Pillowcase Bag project. In just about an hour and a half, my very novice seamstress had a completed project and learned a few things in the process.

She used an old faded floral pillowcase that had belonged to my grandmother. These would be great done in bright colors, linen, shabby chic pillowcases. You could use them for getting books at the library, going to store to pick up a few things, taking clothes to grandma's for overnight, to carry your towels, sunscreen, and book to the beach. The possibilities are endless!

Oh certainly! You just let us know colors etc...

Like I said Emily made some mistakes and learned from them so the next ones will turn out even better!

That is so fun!

Chelsea loves to make bags. She'll have to peek at these instructions next time she is over.

What a cute idea! I love it! I'd love to try making one of those. I'll have to look for the book. Or maybe you really should take orders. :-)

I love the bag. How much would you charge? I would love a dark green and brown mix

Hi Tracy,

Don't know how much we would charge! We will talk about it and then let you know. Partly the cost would be determined on material costs....

Thanks!
