Mennonite Girls Can Cook!

Becky and I had a fun time on Monday night.  Our blogging friend Vee, told us that Lovella and Anneliese were coming to our local Christian Bookstore and that we should go see them and say Hi.  She even sent us a bit of incentive!

Vee writes the blog "A Haven For Vee".  Years ago, when Lovella mentioned that she was going to start a blog showcasing some of their heritage recipes, Vee commented that she thought it was a good idea because "everyone knows Mennonite girls can cook!"  And thus a blog was named and so was a cookbook.  Lovella told us that one of the first things their editor said was "I love your title!"

Becky decided that we needed to bring Vee along with us this evening though she was many hundreds of miles away.  Lovella and Annaliese thought it was a great idea!

This book is full of great looking recipes - I bought one even though I am not a cookbook buyer.  These girlies can't wait to try the recipes...

Since the cookbook is for all of us, I had it signed to us all...

Lovella and Anneliese were fun and a delight to meet.  They were really enjoying themselves on this book tour.

Thanks Vee for suggesting that we go!  It was great fun.

I commented on Becky's blog that someday I am going to travel two hours east and visit you gals! You guys were just hilarious. I hope everyone pops over to Hospitality Lane to see "...the reat of the story" ! :) So glad you got to meet the authors. Thanks for sharing the story of the cookbook/blog name. :)

Love that picture of all of you. Does that print-out make me look fluffy? Ha!

I'm so glad that you bought the book because I think that the Rabe gals are going to love it. We are finding so many things to love about it. (My favorite is Paska.)

Thanks so much for the nice Friendly's order. Wish that I could have helped you out with the calories!

I was a Mennonite girl myself. The rest of the description doesn't fit me so well though.

Sounds like a GREAT evening.
