Weekend

We had a fun weekend.  It started Friday night when Tim and I went on a date to a 2Cellos concert in Hershey!

Saturday we did at home things.  The biggest thing we did was sort through some things in the laundry room area of our basement.  We've had boots and jackets and snow pants, that our kids outgrew, lined up and hanging on hooks.  The reason we still had all these was that for many years we had a lot of people over on Sundays after church and this allowed visiting kids to find 'outdoor wear' for playing outside.  That season has passed and so we sorted and tossed and it looks really clean and tidy now.  We also got ride of an old laundry sink that we didn't use.  These kinds of projects aren't pretty but they are necessary and it feels great to get them accomplished.

Then since the weather was in the low 70's, I started some flower seeds.

We'll see how it goes!  I also started Lavender from seed.  I've never had much luck growing it from seed, but I'm willing to give it a try again!

Yesterday, we went to church and then we came home and made subs and wraps, ate salad and strawberries and had great discussion.

Then the young adults went off to a church event for the afternoon and evening.  Tim took a nap, I read some and watched an episode of Blue Bloods on Prime.  Then we took Kamryn home, and went to meet some friends, who are family, for dinner.  As couples we hadn't been out for a long time.  It was really great.  I love having friends to laugh with one minute, be brought to tears another, speak of spiritual things, and share a love of each others kids.  Its the best.

So I'm starting this week with my heart full of encouragement and love.  I hope you are, too!

A verse that stood out to me in my devotional reading this weekend is 1 Corinthians 8:3 - 'But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.'  I often think of my relationship with God as one of getting to know Him, so it struck me in a fresh way that I am known by Him.  Its an amazing thing to be known (for who you really are) and to be loved.  Accepted and valued.

Elisabeth Elliot always opened her radio program with ‘You are loved with an everlasting love,’ that’s what the Bible says, ‘and underneath are the everlasting arms.’

What a great way to start our week!

  6. I have never had much luck growing lavender from seed or plants - until last year. At the end of the season I bought a small plant and stuck it in a pot by the kitchen fountain. It survived all winter. I will never move it from that spot!!
