A Glimpse

In blogland it is easy to show our lives in edited form. We, of course, don't want to show the piles of laundry, dishes in our sinks, floors to be swept and mopped. We want to show the pretty table arrangement, the happy kids, the beautiful sunset.

This is not real life though. While those things are a part of our real lives, there are also areas of mess. They might be stress from a difficult job, struggles to keep to a budget in this economy, heartache from family members....I could go on, but you get the idea.

I don't think that it is wrong to edit what we say on our blogs, in fact it is a good policy. We need to think about what we should feel free to share with the world! I try to think about whether what I share will embarrass my family - do I have a right to share potty training stories? Maybe...but maybe not. Sometimes I read things about people on blogs and I cringe wondering whether enough thought was given before someone posted that story about their child's struggles, their difficult in laws or whatever. However, by editing my words, I don't want to give the impression that everything in our life is perfect - it is not!

I have shared a few times about having a difficult child. This person is no longer a child and that has made for all the more difficulty. I will not share their issues, because that is their story. I will however ask that you pray for us, we surely need wisdom from the Lord. He has sustained us and strengthened us and taught us so much through this relationship with our child. We are praying for God to receive Glory through it all.

I wanted to share a glimpse of my garden, here in mid July, through Lindsay's lens.

Gold Mound Spirea

Salvia Victoria Blue - waiting to open

Feverfew

Hydrangea - up close

The same Hydrangea

Black Eyed Susan

Echinacea - Purple Coneflower with a visiting bee!

I find the beauty of the garden - any garden - makes my heart glad. It is a reminder to me of our great God, the Creator of the world, who holds it all in His hands and has everything in His control. I am so thankful...

  1. We are standing with you as always. The Lord is faithful and trustworthy. How could we make it through trials if we did not have Him to lean on. One of your grandpa's favorite songs was "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" Praise God His arms are strong enough to hold us all.

    We love you dearly.

  4. I love your beautiful flower photos! Thank you for sharing!

I agree with you that it is entirely appropriate to keep some things as private on a blog. Not everything in our lives is for public consumption. Sometimes, folks can just air too much of their laundry, so to speak! The blogging world does not need to know unless we want to share the experience in the hope that it will help someone else.

    I will be praying for the issue that concerns you. {{{{hugs}}}}

  5. What you have said is SO true!

I know that my home and my life are not always rosy, but in blogging I only share what concerns me personally and no other person, because it will come back to either haunt me or them :o(

    Your photos are just beautiful!

    Blessings ...

I do agree with this post--your prayer request, although not detailed--is enough- GOD knows the details, the world doesn't have to.
