Lunch With A Friend and A Recipe

Yesterday, my friend Amy came over, with her delightful children.

She and I are in charge of the Ladies Tea at church, this coming Tuesday, and needed to talk last minute stuff.  We also are coordinating a Christmas dinner for the church on the Sunday before Christmas.  Such fun!

Anyway, she wanted to bring her fabulous pumpkin soup and a yummy salad for us (and Rachel) and I took care of planning the kids lunch.

I made Ham and Cheese sliders for the kids, which we ended up having with our soup, too!  They were so good, though next time I want to use a tad less brown sugar.  I found the recipe on Pinterest, and it is a bit sweet and savory, but mostly it is delicious!

Up close of Amy's wonderful salad - spring greens, Bosc pears, spicy pecans, craisins, and a homemade balsamic vinegar dressing.

Curried pumpkin soup - with a dollop of sour cream which I had already swirled into my soup.  It is so, so delicious.

That girl can cook!

We got all our work done too, and we did an impromptu rearrangement in Kyle's room, that I've been wanting to get too.

Did mention that she is a great friend?

Here is the recipe for the sandwich sliders.

24 dinner rolls made into ham and cheese sandwiches.  (I simply put the meat and cheese on the rolls.)  Put the sandwiches into a baking pan 9x13 or larger.

Then you pour a sauce of 1 stick of butter, 2 tablespoons of mustard (the yellow stuff), 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/3 cup brown sugar.  Heat on the sauce on the stove until it all blends together and starts to boil.  Pour sauce over sandwiches and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

They were so good!  I'll definitely be making these again - the kids loved them and so did the adults!  If you give them a try, let me know!

Everything looks and sounds so delicious! Sandwiches are my favorite food on the planet and what a great way to make them all at once!

I'm still not sure about pumpkin soup...but if you say its good....

Last night Pastor Mike kept asking me questions about the Christmas Tea and I kept saying, "I don't know...it's not my deal" with a silly grin on my face. I loved working on it with you but I'm also going to love coming and enjoying it as a guest.

Thanks to both you and Amy for all of the work you are putting into these events!!

hugs,
Becky
