An Unexpected Journey

We are just settling into bed after being at the midnight showing of The Hobbit. In IMAX 3D no less.

Having not read the book, other than several paragraphs of the first chapter, I have to say that I enjoyed it quite a bit.

As in any Middle Earth story there is a lot of battles to wage and to be won.

The Dwarves are great...the one on the top left of the poster is Gimli's father.  When they all meet up at Bilbo's house and when they run into the trolls are fun scenes.

Bilbo has an encounter with a very creepy Gollum...finds the ring...

The others in our group who saw it and are fans of Tolkien and have actually read The Hobbit liked it as well.  Some of their comments were "I liked that Peter Jackson kept all the languages in the movie", "Just as a stand alone movie, I'd give it an 8 out of 10", "Too many perfect close calls - but I'd give it a 7 out of 10."

It is an enjoyable movie, worth seeing, especially if you liked the The Lord of the Ring triology!

Tim, who was at work last night while we played, is going today and taking the younger two (who got to spend the night at Grandma's) and whoever in the family available.  Oh, and their going Christmas shopping too.

As for me, I am not taking an Unexpected Journey.  I'll be doing my bimonthly big shopping trip.  I'll also be finishing up my Christmas shopping and buying items needed for our Christmas dinner at church next Sunday and our own Christmas dinner here at the cottage.  Oh and I must remember to order the cakes!

Have a delightful day.

We had a wonderful wedding weekend in Missouri! We drove, leaving Friday morning and came back on Monday! It was long, but it was worth it...
