Saturday Breakfast

I was up first this morning and had a bit of quiet.

I decided to make breakfast for myself, which always translates to cooking extra, because as soon as I start someone else shows up in the kitchen ready to eat!

Beautiful, fresh eggs.  Our chickens are giving us these lovely beauties everyday.

 Lovely, orangey yolks.

Yummy, crusty artisan bread.

With real butter of course.

Delicious and just right on a snowy morning.

  1. It looks like you were prepared to share. Did you make the bread? Have a good Saturday! And aren't those early morning times of stillness in the house wonderful?

  2. Yommmmm. That is one thing I really miss-my chickens and their eggs :)
I fooled myself to thinking the cage free eggs at the store are just as good :(

  3. Sounds delicious! My mother-in-laws coop burnt down last weekend (luckily her chickens are okay) and we share a communal property, so we are patiently waiting for those gals to start laying again. They were more than a little spooked to say the least. Have a wonderful day.

  6. one day i'll have chickens.. the eggs are soo good and there's no comparison to store bought.

i learned early in my marriage to always make enough for rocky, no matter if he's up or not because once he smells the coffee or something cooking/baking - he's up!

  10. Having my own laying hens is the kind of thing that I have always wanted. Since I live in a subdivision, it's the kind of thing that will never be happening. This looked so wonderful and exactly my type of breakfast.

  11. I was sorting through old Kodak photos and found some of taken our day-range hens in Maine. Then I came upon your posts and smiled because our yolks looked as dark orange as yours and could almost taste your photograph. Mmmm.
