Hurricane Sandy Has Arrived

She actually arrived yesterday in the form of light rain.

Overnight the rain increased and this morning when I let the dogs out the winds were light and breezy about 10-15 mph.  Now they are up to about 25 mph and are supposed to increase to about 45 mph sustained, with gust of 60 mph.

They were facing north - into the rain and winds...

They kids were out making observations for science.

Tim is setting up the generator in case we need it.  His work stays open no matter what, so he is supposed to go in later.  I hope they take the step to close, since the storm is supposed to be it's worse here while he is supposed to be at work and coming home.

Winds have increased since I started to write this.

There is a lot of reading going on here today - somehow a rainy day is just right for that.

Trust you are all snugged in safe where you are.

The children are so cute in their different colored rain gear. Stay warm and dry, and keep on reading.

That first photo of the kids made me laugh. They are so funny.

Warren just got home. Glad Sight and Sound decided to close through the entire storm. I guess your girls will be glad, as well.

Stay safe. We've got 40 thousand without power thus far and reports of 22 foot high waves off the coast and 75 mph wind gusts. I don't want to see that here. Hang tough and stay inside where those tree branches can't clunk you on the head. The kids look so cute all lined up that way heading into the wind. I imagine that there's a fair amount of excitement and interest on their part.

I love that top pic!

Praying for all of you as you deal with this storm. I hope you get to have Tim home with you-it's so much nicer to just snuggle in as a family, not having to worry about any members being out in it.

Had to have John come back in to see the cute pictures. He thinks Kyle looks especially pleased with hurricane weather and he likes all the different colors of the raincoats!

I hope that Sandy has proven to be kinder to you than expected. We are in Rochester, New York, also in the path of the storm, but have fared better than expected. We still have electricity, and I don't think the winds have been quite as strong as predicted. Up along the shore of Lake Ontario I don't think things have been quite as easy. And the devastation in New York City - five hours east of here - is all over the news, and almost unbelievable.

Please post as soon as you are able so we know how you have fared.
