Hospitality: Fall Fest 2014

This has become one of our family's favorite events of the year.  It's a lot of work, but oh, is it fun.

 Kamryn enjoyed a hay ride.

I took a later ride - it was cold as you can tell on my friend Elizabeth's face.

Heading to the farm field behind our property.  Our kind neighbor lets us use his now empty fields every year.

We had a donut game this year.  You have to eat the hanging donut without using your hands.

I love this series of shots of that Lindsay took of her flower girl Molly and a boy named Virgil.

Molly still working on that donut while a whole line of kids waits patiently!

Sarah, Micah, and Asher have their turns.

We did a candy scramble.  Two groups so the little ones would get some candy!

Aren't they adorable?  In the background, you can see the big kids playing frisbee and just to the right of Stephan (in the black jacket) there was a roaring fire where people could warm up, cook hot dogs and s'mores.

After dark the teens were all sitting around there singing and one of the guys was playing his guitar.

Lindsay's sister in law, Verity, enjoyed the candy scramble!

Here are the 7-10 year olds.  I love their faces in this photo.  Sisters Juliet and Sonja, Caleb, Daniel and Kyle.

Aren't they a cute bunch?

You may wonder where all the parents are?  Most of them were inside!  Though many of the dads were in and out, the ladies all decided to stay inside and visit. You can't tell but it was very windy yesterday and that made it COLD outside.  But we had sunny skies, and cheerful hearts.  What more could you ask for?

By my quick count this morning we had 75 people here yesterday. We are thankful for the chance to host our friends and family and have a great time.  We are already looking forward to next year.

Your photos depict a fun day even if it was cold. At least eating donuts from a string doesn't get one wet like bobbing for apples.:-)

Oh if it was as windy as here, I know that it was brisk. They all look very happy to me even if they are chilled to the bone.

Looks like lots of good times at the Rabes' house! Brrr...it was chilly that day. I'll bet the bonfire was a popular place to be. (And the house, of course. I'd have been there.) :)
