A few weeks ago, the we went on a girl's day out. Shopping and lunch with friends. When I go out to shop with friends, I often am looking for inspiration for my home. I like to be creative, so I make special trips to stores that inspire me.
On this trip we went to Terrain for a bit of inspiration. It is generally out of my comfort zone for spending, though I bought my beautiful Mother Fern there in January. It was near to where we had lunch, and I wanted to pop in and 'see' what they were doing. This place is full of inspiration. It is a garden shop, lifestyles, event holding place.
The take away for me on this trip was seeing these -
These are teak citronella candles. When I saw them I loved them and immediately thought of a wooden serving 'bowl' that I had found at Goodwill for $1.97. I thought of how great these would look with beeswax in them!
Inspiration!
Here is my 'bowl' partway through the process. I forgot to take a before photo. I also want to point out that this piece is old and had some worn, splotchy spots. I had been intending to use dark wax on it, and maybe give it as a gift. But once I was inspired at Terrain, I decided I was going to keep it!
I love beeswax candles, and had purchased beeswax to try making dip candles, but I never did it.
I did a nice slow melt - the kitchen smelled so great!
The beeswax is a beautiful honey color when it is melted!
Here is my finished candle.
Let me tell you that I made a rookie mistake. The two end sections are too big to have just one wick. They do not burn as well as the other two sections. I will fix this before too long.
Now I am thinking about other things I can use to create these beautiful beeswax candles!
Are there places you shop that are inspiring to you and your home keeping? Tell me about it!

I am so impressed! What a great idea and it looks lovely.
In your area, Olde Mill Gift Shoppes is full of inspiration for me! I love the way that they have made the former home into a showcase of home ideas. When I visit, I want to move right in!
You had a great idea there! I love beeswax candles too. Your "new" candle is so cozy...and what a bargain!
Love this idea!!
