Out Of The Recesses Of My Mind

This song has been going through my mind since Saturday.

"All I Ever Have To Be"
When the weight of all my dreams
Is resting heavy on my head
And the thoughtful words of help and hope
Have all been nicely said
But I'm still hurting, wondering if I'll ever be the one
I think I am - I think I am

Then you gently re-remind me
That You've made me from the first
And the more I try to be the best
The more I get the worst
And I realize the good in me is only there because of who You are
Who You are...

And all I ever have to be is what You've made me
Any more or less would be a step out of Your plan
As you daily recreate me help me always keep in mind
That I only have to do what I can find
And all I ever have to be
All I have to be
All I ever have to be is what You've made me

Isn't it amazing how things come out of our memory banks?  Not everything in there is good, but a lot of it is worth thinking on and
I'm grateful.  It's a big part of why we have tried to be careful about the things we watch or listen to.

This song is a good reminder that God has made each one of us with a purpose and that we need to follow His plan for us.  Our lives may not look like someone else's life, but as long as we are following where He is leading, it's a good thing.

We influence our kids and grandkid with what we watch and listen to, and I must say, that my kids have influenced me, too! I've become a fan of some shows like Dr. Who and Sherlock, and I would never have watched them on my own.

Do you ever have a song come to mind or an event from your past and it takes you by surprise, like a "blast from the past?"  I tell you, it's crazy all the song lyrics I can remember from being a kid and listening to my parents play music in the house, everything from The Beatles to Roberta Flack to John Denver.

Speaking of grandkids, our girlie likes to go to church with us on Sundays, and we love having her with us.  I took this photo yesterday right after the service.

She and I like to both take our shoes off during church.  This is her sandals on mine!

Have a good day friends!

ps- I don't know why blogger is doing weird things with the text being jammed together.  Sorry if it's harder reading today!

I understand this! I would say its the hymns I remember the most from childhood and the words are right there; in fact I rarely need to open a hymnbook when we sing hymns at our church. I love that those words come to me as comfort during difficult times. But recently a memory popped into my head about a situation in our lives I hadn't thought of in ages. I might do a post!

That made me laugh outloud!

Good thoughts here today. It is so important that we feed our spirits with good things! Those things to which we give our attention are the things that come to the surface most often.

Like Dotsie, hymns often come to my mind. Their words are so rich and deep, food for the soul.

Love, love, love that song! I've sung it as a lullaby to all 3 of my children who are now 13, 15 and 19. The words come to me in the dark times like a modern-day psalm. Thanks for sharing!

Information Friday

We had a wonderful wedding weekend in Missouri! We drove, leaving Friday morning and came back on Monday! It was long, but it was worth it...
