I did it! I finished my kitchen cabinets! I'm so happy with how they look!
Here are a few before photos
The boy standing on the chair? He's going to be eleven on Wednesday!
This shows you a bit of the long cupboard in the original finish.
Over this summer I have been painting them Old White in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. They are sealed with clear wax.
Dotsie had mentioned that she was having trouble with the layout of my kitchen so I took this photo. I am standing in front of the kitchen door. The sliding door to the deck is to the right of the long cupboard and the stairs to the basement are behind this cupboard. As you can see the hallway is to the left.
I almost did not get these cabinets finished this weekend. Five minutes after Rachel left for work, she called me saying, "I've been in an accident, can you come right now?" I slid my feet into shoes, and grabbed my purse and headed out the door! I combed my hair in the car, but that's all.
A car pulled out in front of her, and she was quick thinking, anticipating that he was going to go from a side road, so she was already moving over. He came out and she ended up clipping his bumper which crunched the right front of the civic and tore the man's bumper off completely.
The other driver, a kind, older gentleman, said to her, "You did good. If you hadn't have swerved (his word), you would have hit me broadside." Meaning she would have slammed into his driver's side door. That would have been bad.
Now, I could not have cared less, at this point, if I got my cabinets painted or not on Saturday. But she was fine (went into work even) and Sarah made dinner, so I was able to get them done.
They make the kitchen light and bright and I am so happy with them. I'm planning a trip to Hobby Lobby later this week to look at drawer pulls and door handles.
I'm so happy with how it turned out!

They are beautiful! What a blessing your daughter is okay! Wishing you a week of good summer days! It's August and cause for celebrating!
I'm so glad to hear that Rachel wasn't seriously injured in the car accident.
The white cabinets look fabulous! Well done, Deanna! My china radar was immediately drawn to the two RA teapots. Hee!
I am rejoicing with you about God's protection for Rachel!! How different this could have been...I am thankful for His plan!!
Oh, those cabinets look lovely! Wow!! I am so impressed with all of your work and with how bright and fresh the white cabinets make your space! Job well done!
OK I think I have it figured out now! What a change! It looks wonderful and you must be exhausted after all that painting. I hope you find just the knobs and pulls you want. I'm glad Rachel is OK--what a shake up for her. There must have been some angels in the area! Oh--I have the same color walls as you and cabinet color. But I am going to switch the wall color--with very mixed emotions (I need to repair the walls from where I painted over wall paper)--as I do love a yellow kitchen.
I'm glad you got your cabinets finished, but even happier that the accident wasn't serious. I do hope Rachel is feeling well.
Your kitchen looks so bright and pretty.
Praise God for taking care of Rachel. Glad that she is quick thinking in a tough situation.
The cabinets are beautiful! They look just great! It really does lighten and brighten the space.
Well, the cabinets are just gorgeous...what a difference a coat of paint can make! Such a transformation. And praise the Lord that Rachel's accident wasn't worse...how grateful you surely are!
LOVE the white:) Mine are white too! Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!
the cabinets look fantastic! Your original cabinets look a lot like mine...I guess oak cabinets are pretty much standard fare.
I'm so glad your daughter and that man are okay. It could have been really bad! There's nothing like that call from one of our kids that they are in an accident. My son hit a guy last December. Lots of damage to his car, but no injuries to either party...praise God.
Have a great day,
Patti
So happy she (and he) were not hurt worse! And I read your homeschooling post, too. Sounds like it will be an interesting year with a wide-spread of ages and interests ♥
Glad to hear your daughter was not hurt in the accident. Your kitchen looks lovely. We have white cabinets and people say it shows the dirt more, well then, you just clean them!!
