Cottage Style

I have a deep love for cottage style.  Over the years, it has become a bit more defined, as I really love English style cottages with a bit of French thrown in, too!  This to me is the great thing about cottage style - it can draw on styles from different countries.  As I looked at my Pinterest board Cottage Love I saw something that was obvious in each photo.  Can you see what it is?

If you said the color RED, you are right!  If you go to my Pinterest board (here)  you'll actually see a lot of red and white buffalo check and florals.

For me the draw of Cottage Style is the fact that it has a very collected sensibility to it.  You can image that this painting was passed down from Aunt Gladys, and that silver pot from grandma.  I like that.  A lot.

What style do you like?  What is it that draws you to that style?  Let's chat in the comments!

  3. I did notice your red in every Pin! I love that about Pinterest . . . even if you're not aware of what you like about each room, looking over your boards reveals Pinning patterns. "Oh, I really DO love Windsor chairs!" :D

Cottage style is charming and cozy and welcoming!

My favorite style is colonial/primitive. I fell in love with it when we first moved into our old farmhouse (although back in the day, it was more "country"), and I love it still. The look has simplified over the years, but I love old and wood and pewter and classic fabrics and rich color. It works for us.

    1. Pinterest is great for that! I love many styles but I always come back to English Cottage, and red. :)

  8. I have no idea even after all these years. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Whatever my style is, it is certainly eclectic, like a junk shop. I have always believed that there should be some red in every room, though it is not a color I decorate with in a big way.

  10. I look around and there is no red in my house. Except at Christmas. Hmmm. It does look cozy in your inspiration photos. I favour a Nordic-by-the-sea with some French/English country thrown in.
