Weekend

This weekend was fun. I went to tea with co-op friends, at one of their houses. It was open to all moms. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, and enjoying great tea and food. I took no photos apparently.

Saturday I made taco salad for dinner, and prepped for Sunday lunch. Tim helped me peel potatoes and then I chopped carrots and an onion. We put stew beef in the crockpot to cook overnight in some water, then added the potatoes, carrots, and onion in the morning. When we got home we added green beans and corn, and I thickened the broth a bit. It was the best beef stew I've ever made. I think it was because the stew beef cooked so long, and was very tender.

I caught our cat, Watson, sleeping with his head on the coffee table last night.

Tim bought me flowers this weekend. They are very pretty!

I grabbed a quick shot of the top of the piano, as it still has it's Christmas finery. Tomorrow, this will all be packed away until late November!
I've enjoyed it so much, but I am going away for five days at the end of the week and when I get back it will be February.
I'm also eager an ready to dust and reset the house for the rest of winter into spring.

We've had very cold temperatures from the polar vortex this past week or so, and today is going to be nearly 40 degrees! What a relief! Last week when I was out in the morning it was 10 degrees! So the 24 degrees right now is a welcome blessing!

You can see we still have snow on the ground. This is one of my bedroom windows.  Again, paint and caulking has been done bit by bit and the windows are nearly all done! I am eager to get curtains up again!

I mentioned going away for five days, and it's this little dude and his family we are going to visit.

They don't stay little very long, and he's already over a month old! Can't wait to hold him, and play with his big sisters and brothers! Fun times ahead.

It's so handy having adult kids living at home. They'll hold down the fort and feed the cat. My parents are coming with us and are very excited. This boy is their 15th great grandchild!

We miss getting to share life with them on a regular basis, but we trust God to help us keep our relationships with them strong and healthy. They are thriving, they live near our son in law's family who all adore our daughter, they are strong in their faith. Can't ask for more. That being said, I'm pretty excited about seeing them all!

There might be an Information Friday post if I can get it all done by Thursday night.

ps - It's been a week of 47 being on the job and WOW! He's on a roll!  This is an important week for confirmation hearings and I think the dems will be especially hard on Tulsi and Bobby, being former Dems. It's going to be ugly for Bobby. Call or email, your Senators and tell them the American people voted overwhelmingly for Trump and we want his candidates for Cabinet positions approved! We're watching and paying attention!

Information Friday

Two things that will change - 1. Move the grill, and 2. Find a spot for my lamppost. The firewood holder and the fire ring need a new spot, too!

Well, it is almost inaugural week. This weekend there are events in DC. Tomorrow evening there is a reception and fireworks at Trumps golf course in Virginia, and there is a reception and dinner for Cabinet picks and the Vice President JD Vance.

On Sunday there will be a wreath laying at Arlington cemetery, then a victory rally, and later that evening a candle light dinner with donors.

Monday is the inauguration! I've just read the swearing in will be indoors due to the forecasted temperatures. The last inauguration that was held indoors was 1985 for Ronald Reagan's second term.

Then the usual events a signing ceremony, a farewell to the previous President and VP, inspection of troops, a congressional luncheon. I haven't heard if the parade is still scheduled, Reagan's was cancelled, but it was much colder than it will be on Monday.

This week we've had cabinet nominees in front of committees and they've all done very well!

Freedom of speech means we don't have an external deciding what is truth. We all get to decide that for ourselves. America isn't only about telling the truth, because the liars are the ones pretending they are the truth tellers. The ones who attempt to make you agree that this man is actually a woman.

Here are some other interesting things.

What do you think about this?

I probably will not post again until Tuesday. Keep praying for safety for all! Don't be surprised if there is a False Flag event.

Have a good weekend and stay warm!

Some Thoughts For The New Year

I took this photo last night before I went to bed. We love the way our new windows look, and I love to see the reflection of our lamps in the windows.

We took the tree down on Saturday, but have left all of the garlands and lights. Its so pretty in the evenings. I'll miss it when its gone.

I wanted to show a few more photos of the house. We got our front light on now but it's not up yet in this photo.

This is the board and batten up close. I just noticed the siding on the right on the garaged is dirty from when they ripped our old siding off the front of the house.

The section with the board and batten is the original house. Before we bought the house a primary suite was added, that's the bumped out section on the left. Then a year ago my parents added the other addition, which includes their inlaw quarters. They are tucked behind the garage, and have beautiful views of the creek, barn, trees, and pasture. Our Amish neighbor is using our pasture for his sheep, and my mom loved seeing them out of her windows!

A huge difference for us is the new front door. We wanted a window in it to bring in more light. We had a solid door before and that was a dark corner. Now light floods in even on cloudy days!
The photo was taken the day the door was installed.
This week, we had a prayer and fasting week with our church. You can fast in any way, so Tim and I decided to fast sugar. Overall it wasn't hard, and though I had a little sugar yesterday, I think I'm going to continue. If I want a dessert or treat it will have to be homemade with xylitol.

I am starting the new year with a renewed vision of how I can minister and be a light for Christ. I'm grateful to the Lord for allowing me to walk alongside people and encourage them in the Lord.

There is so much heartache and disaster happening in our world, but I feel a change happening. People are seeing evil for what it is in ways they've never seen it. They also are ready to hear about God and what He has done for us all, and what He continues to do.

I want our home to continue to be a haven of welcome and rest for people. With it all updated, I trust the house will have many more years of sheltering, sharing, welcoming people.

To God be the Glory!
