Gladys Taber

It all started a few years ago, when I began to hear different friends mention a woman I had never heard of before - Gladys Taber.

I take notice when my friends mention women who influenced them and the fact that Gladys wrote books!  Susan Branch even mentioned her!

Then I won a copy of Stillmeadow Calendar from Lorrie, you can read about that here.  I have enjoyed reading this book.

I don't know what it is about reading about someone's day to day life.  She writes in a way that you are drawn into what goes on in these lovely places that she has made her home.

In June, Rachel and I took a drive to a used bookstore that we favor and I hit the motherlode.  Seriously.

These books were so inexpensive, I just couldn't believe it.

I am reading "My Own Cape Cod" right now.

I looked on Amazon and there are more books that she wrote than I knew about.  I am going to have to keep my eyes out for more of these treasures.
Have you read any of her books?  Do you have a favorite?

Today, I took my mom grocery shopping and to her doctors appointment.  We were gone all day, and enjoyed lunch out together too.  Tomorrow Tim has the day off (but not the weekend) so we are going to go on a family trip for the day.  It's his first day off in a month, and we are going to enjoy it!

I hope you all have a good fourth.  It will be a day of remembering all that the founders did to bring forth this nation.  It will be a bit of sober reflection I do believe.

I hope all my Canadian friends had a wonderful Canada Day!

It's exciting to find a new author. And then to find a whole assortment of her books at a great price...even more exciting!!

Enjoy your family time!

You DID hit the motherlode! I can't help being a little jealous. I think I only have My Own Cape Cod and Still Cove Journal. (Maybe Stillmeadow Calendar.) These are among the very few books I re-read.

I adore Gladys Taber! I have a handful of her books and so far my favorite is Stillmeadow Calendar since she wrote in it something about each month at Stillmeadow.

Oh! Will be looking forward to a recap of this fun day celebrated a little early. Every day has been sobering. We are not in Kansas anymore.

OH! I am so jealous, I love anything Gladys Taber wrote, I first became acquainted with her writings when I was a young wife, I would buy Family Circle magazine, one of my splurges as a young wife on a budget, she was a contributor to the magazine, oh how I loved reading her articles, which led to me buying some of her books, to which I love reading once in awhile! Enjoy your books, I just know you are going to love her writings as much as I do.
Blessings, Sue

Oh how wonderful! Gladys Taber is one of my very favorite authors. I have, I think, three of hers, including Harvest of Yesterdays. Wherever we travel, I hit up any used bookstores in search of more Gladys. Hers are books that I re-read constantly. I'm sure you are greatly enjoying these.
