My 22nd Year of Homeschooling
We are off to a good start!
Here are my students -
Kamryn is doing Kindergarten work this year. That means that she is learning her letter sounds, doing basic math skills, doing history and science with Kyle and Sarah. Her favorite thing yesterday was cutting out and gluing pictures into her science notebook!
Kyle is doing 6th grade, working a year a head in math and his reading is well above grade level. He likes science too.
Sarah - newly 14, new haircut and starting 9th grade. She is loving being in high school. She is a lover of reading, writing, and anything that inspires her creative soul. Math - not so much.
We've started doing Poetry Tea Time, and I plan to do it once a week, though we may all have tea time together everyday. It was rainy yesterday, so I read poems about rain from "A Child's Garden of Verses," by Robert Louis Stevenson. The artwork in my book is by Thomas Kinkade.
We all had tea (our own favorites) and they had cookies, while I had a low carb lemon scone.
Rachel was home, and joined us with her iced coffee!
This might have been Kamryn's favorite part of the day, after the cutting and pasting in the science book.
I'm looking forward to these precious days together, learning and growing. I consider myself privileged to have this time with my children, and now my granddaughter.
Tomorrow we take our first day off (I know! After only two days!). But it's Kyle's birthday and Lindsay has plans with him for the morning! She is taking him to the LEGO store! He's never been as the closest one to us is over an hour away! He's going to have so much fun.
I love that my kids have such great relationships with each other. It's not that they never annoy one another or get upset with the other. It's that they have built bonds of love over the years of learning and growing together and they've learned to forgive one another. Another blessing from our years of homeschooling.

Oh, Deanna, I have to tell you, I felt a little pang of sadness as I read this. I loved homeschooling my kids, and I really miss those days.
I hope y'all have a really great year. How fun that you have the privilege to teach your granddaughter too.
I love that y'all are enjoying a teatime together. We used to do that too, and I still do it in the evening with my husband during the winter months.
Yes, schooling at home provides plenty of opportunity to learn and grow together. Plus, our children learn that they can hang out with people other than just their age group. In other words, they are not peer-dependent.
Blessings,
Patti
I love this post. What a great activity. Your blessed. Thank you for sharing this with us. I get my grandson on Thursday. We enjoy a cooking class together. I had hoped to do art but he is going to a new homeschool group at a church and they offer art and science. I'm excited for him.
Thanks again for sharing this.
It sounds like you have another year of happy-home-learning ahead of you. I had to chuckle at you taking off a day after 2-days-in. That's the beauty of the flexibility of home teaching.
I started watching a program about the history of Lego with my son. It is quite detailed. We haven't finished it yet because there is so much to it. The intricate buildings and sculptures people of all ages make, are amazing.
I enjoyed the week I spent with my daughter Sophia's family the next state over, taking part in my grandchildren's home school days and their play.
This makes me also miss our homeschooling days. And we used to have tea too. It's so nice your kids let you homeschool your granddaughter! What an impact you can have in all your kids' lives.
WOW, that is something to be proud of! Sweet pictures! My Step-daughter is going into her 2nd year of home-schooling for THREE kiddos:) Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!
I miss homeschooling - my baby is only 26. I love new supplies, books, school planning.
