Two things that will change - 1. Move the grill, and 2. Find a spot for my lamppost. The firewood holder and the fire ring need a new spot, too!
Well, it is almost inaugural week. This weekend there are events in DC. Tomorrow evening there is a reception and fireworks at Trumps golf course in Virginia, and there is a reception and dinner for Cabinet picks and the Vice President JD Vance.
On Sunday there will be a wreath laying at Arlington cemetery, then a victory rally, and later that evening a candle light dinner with donors.
Monday is the inauguration! I've just read the swearing in will be indoors due to the forecasted temperatures. The last inauguration that was held indoors was 1985 for Ronald Reagan's second term.
Then the usual events a signing ceremony, a farewell to the previous President and VP, inspection of troops, a congressional luncheon. I haven't heard if the parade is still scheduled, Reagan's was cancelled, but it was much colder than it will be on Monday.
This week we've had cabinet nominees in front of committees and they've all done very well!
Here are some other interesting things.
What do you think about this?

Yes indeed. I don't know if you caught Jake Sullivan's last farewell presser, but he said something strange and cryptic. He went on about it being the last time he talks to the press, "Unless something happens that brings me back" in so many words. Don't know if it was a slip, sarcasm or a hint of something bad on the horizon. We shall see.
Just yesterday, I told my husband that there were a few things outdoors that needed to be moved. I guess my major decluttering inside this week gave cause for me to want to make sure the yard is decluttered as well. Sometimes you have to move those things around. Stay warm...COLD weather is coming.
It's fascinating to hear about the various activities leading up to the big day, from the receptions and wreath-laying to the signing ceremonies and the farewell events. The swearing-in indoors is a bit of a historical tidbit – it’s always interesting to see how weather impacts such an important occasion. With the cabinets having done well in front of committees, it seems like things are running smoothly as the new term prepares to begin.
Your preparations for the grill, lamppost, and firewood holder also seem like a good way to get ready for the colder weather ahead. I imagine the events in DC will be watched closely, and no doubt, it'll be an interesting and historic week ahead!
It sounds like an exciting week ahead with so many significant events! The inaugural week always has a certain energy, and it’s fascinating to think about how the weather can impact the ceremony, especially with the swearing-in being indoors this year. I’m sure the reception, wreath-laying, and other events will be memorable for all involved. It’s also great to hear the cabinet nominees are doing well—things must be moving along nicely! Your plans to move the grill, firewood holder, and lamppost sound like good preparations for the changes coming with the season.
