This and That

I have a lot going on both in my brain and in my life so This and That works great for this post!

Friday night I had pain in my tooth that has a root canal. Saturday Tim got me some orajel and we went to urgent care. It has an abscess, so they gave me an antibiotic and today I need to call the dentist. Sigh...

Photo from a few years ago. Limelights from the garden.

I made Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice soup this weekend for dinner and it was just the four of us "housemates" so I set the kitchen table for dinner.

This soup is easy and delicious. I had a rotisserie chicken so that made it super easy.

Since the chicken was already cooked, I deboned it and then started cooking the wild rice. Two boxes in a quart of chicken broth (I use Better than Bouillon soup base to make my own broth) and cook it for 20 minutes. I also cut up carrots and through them in to cook with the rice.

When the rice is finished, I add another quart of chicken broth, and I add a slurry of 1 cup of milk, 1cup of heavy cream, and a quarter cup of flour. I also add the chicken.

Then I let it simmer for 20 ish minutes. I served this with dinner rolls, but you could do biscuits, or bread. It's so good!

I was Marco Polo-ing with my daughter Saturday evening, and this noodle was helping Mommy in the kitchen! She's a big talker, and it was so fun to talk with her.

We'll be going down to see them at the end of the month. I can't wait.

I bought clear ornaments, Mod Podge, sponge brushes, and paper napkins to make ornaments with, and I am bringing a bunch of Christmasy craft paper to make paper chains!

We will do Christmas with them, so I need to shop quickly, and get the gifts wrapped to take with us.

It's going to be fun!

"It was November - the month of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the sea, passionate wind-songs in the pines. Anne roamed through the pineland alleys in the park and, as she said, let that great sweeping wind blow the fogs out of her soul." Lucy Maud Montgomery

We have had the "great sweeping wind" here lately! Wow! I am grateful to live in such a beautiful area. The now fallow fields, and bare trees have a beauty all their own, and there are still trees around in full leaf! Gorgeous! The computer says the temperature is 43 and windy!

I am going to work on little quilts for Stella, Kennedy, and Leon. I make them for each grand and shamefully have not done Kenny and Stella's yet!

These are fabrics I used for Clark, Von, Isla, and Klaire.

I stitch the quilt together and before I bind it I stitch around different things in the pattern with my sewing machine. For example, and bird, or a tea cup or a turtle. This keeps the batting in place. They are simple quilts but we love them. I'll show you when I get the new ones finished. You can see photos and a video {here} of me working on Clark's quilt.

I hope you have a wonderful day!
