If Ever Two Were One, Then Surely We

I was shopping with my mom the other day and one place we ended up was The Flower And Craft Warehouse, in Blue Ball.

While walking down an aisle I saw some of those neat sayings that you put on your walls.  The one I noticed said "If Ever Two Where One, The Surely We."  This I was familiar with, it is from a poem by puritan poet Anne Bradstreet.

Having heard the whole poem before I knew it was just the thing for over my bedroom window, where we will see it everyday as we walk into our room.

It is a daily message for my husband, but I also like that my children will see it and will be reminded of the importance of the marriage relationship and of keeping it strong and of a wife letting her husband know of her love for him.

Here is the whole poem.

To My Dear and Loving Husband

By Anne Bradstreet

If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee.
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee give recompense.
They love is such I can no way repay;
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let's so persever,
That when we live no more, we may live ever.

It's so important that we model for our children everyday, a marriage that brings glory to the Lord.  It surely is a challenge, but it is a joy as well.

Beautiful!

Above our bed is a beautiful script from Song of Solomon: I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine.
