Home Keeping: A Boy's Bedroom

Kyle is nine now.  He is in that in-between stage of little and big boy.

I'm wanting to make some changes in his bedroom to take it from a hodgepodge to something cohesive.

Here's my list of things I want to accomplish in his room.

1. Sort out toys and pack the ones he never plays with away or pass them on to others.

2. Find some new storage bins to replace the ones nearly worn out.

3. Update his bedding and curtain for his window.

I got a start on number 3 yesterday at Fresh Vintage.  Cheryl and I both spotted it on the porch and she said, "That has your name on it!"  It did!

This gorgeous wool plaid blanket with all of Kyle's favorite colors.  Plus it feeds my plaid/tartan obsession.  win-win.

It's perfect for my boy and now gives me a direction for his curtain and other bin colors, etc.

The hard part will be the toy sorting/pitching/passing on, but it desperately needs to be done.

So what do you think?

  5. Looks like a wonderful blanket! Wonderful colors. It's hard to get rid of toys that have meaning isn't it? Don't forget to save some for the grandchildren. I'm so glad we did, and it's so fun to see the grands playing with the same toys their daddy did, and reading the same books.

  6. I have always thought that decorating a boy's room would be the hardest decorating challenge of all. My mother says that it is. You did a wonderful job, and I really do love it.

I'm going to say this part here so I don't clog up your inbox with umpteen comments from the posts I missed last week:

I LOVED that blog that you referenced from your kindred spirit friend Cheryl. I went to the 31 days page from last year, and I just glanced at the "Gethering" ones from this year. I am giving myself the treat of sitting down with a cup of coffee later today to read every single post.

THANK YOU! What a treasure trove.
