I love my home, but it is not an idol in my life. My home is a place where we've raised a family - three are adults and married now, and three are still at home. There have been good times here, and hard times as well. We are only human, after all, in need of grace.
We practice hospitality in our home, and a few years ago, between family and friends, we had about 10 people here for dinner every night. We have friends over on Sundays, and we host a big Fall Fest every year. Our kids plan game nights with friends, bonfires, any excuse really for a get together. {smile}
I love the warm glow of candles, year round.
We are big readers here - books are everywhere in our home. My teenagers have started their own collections as well.
We love music of all kinds, and often have it playing on our bluetooth speaker.
I love cozy beds.
And lots and lots of tea.
I believe that home is where our stories start and we go out into the world with our home in our heart. I want my kids to go out from our home with confidence, and with peace. They have received love here, laughter, and knowledge of the Lord as well. They know they always have a place here at our table and can always stop by for a chat, a movie, or a meal!
This is our home and I am so thankful for the life we've built together here.
I'm joining Laura from White Spray Paint for Thoughts of Home. I'm looking forward to sharing some aspect of my home every Thursday. You should share, too! It'll be fun!

What a beautiful blog and a lovely post!I look forward to reading more :)
I share your sentiments about home. And I'm thinking I should step out of comfort and paint my cabinet white like yours!!
Well chosen words. Lovely blue tea accessories in your previous post.
I felt right at home in your home! That WHITE beauty in the first picture wants to come live with me:) Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!
Girl you are speaking my love language! Books, red pillows, and company.
Thank you so much for joining Thoughts of Home on Thursday today. Your post is beautiful and we are so happy to have you. :)
Had to come back and tell you that we have a little hutch just like yours. It did belong to my husband's grandmother. Ours has books in it. :)
I enjoyed your post today, Deanna. You've got your priorities in the right order and God's blessings will be upon your home.
Your home is lovely and I can see you have created a warm and welcoming space to raise your family in. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Cozy beds with red and white pillows?? Perfect! :)
Had to put that photo of your books on my Book Decor Pinterest page! You've done (and are doing) beautifully, Deanna. May God continue to bless your home with love, joy, peace, and all the other "fruit of His Holy Spirit". ♥
So many wonderful things to love in this post... :-)
Goodness, Deanna! I feel as if I have stepped into a different blog. It's always been pretty, but this is magazine worthy. I think we love "home" because we were made for home. Pretty simple really. Say, I hear that you might need to purchase a lottery ticket. Ha!
Beautiful post and beautiful home, too!
What a beautiful post, Deanna...and your home is so warm and inviting. I have a cabinet very much like your white one at the beginning of your post. Mine hasn't been painted but now I can visualize how it would look if and when I choose to do so! Dorothy was right...there really is NO PLACE like home, is there?
Great perspectives on the home in this blog, Mrs. Rabe.
Having experienced your warm and winning hospitality more than once, I can say that your home is truly a haven. Beautiful, yes...but beyond that, it is also full of warmth and laughter and love and grace.
Oh goodness Deanna...I just realized your little china hutch is so much like the one my grandmother had....what a treasure! What memories your home must hold for you! All the love of your family....hugs!
Love this post ... first time visitor from Decor to Adore!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on home and hospitality!!! Soooo true!! Anything to get the family together and enjoy each other works for me!!!!!! Much love... and much laughter is a sure recipe for joy!!! :)
This is such a sweet and thoughtful post, Deanna. I'm new to your blog, visiting from Jemma and Thoughts of Home. I adore your white cupboard filled with teacups, saucers and such.
Warm hugs,
Carol
What a lovely welcoming home! I too am a big fan of tea in pretty cups.
Thank you so very much for joining Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Your presence really helped to make it very special. I hope you will return again and again.
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Valentine's Day!
Your home is wonderful, but what is even better is your message- it is all about home.
Thank you for sharing that with all of us at our first ever Thoughts of Home on Thursday party.

I agree with you about home and kids. I want mine and my grandchildren to always remember my home with fondness and love. Home is my happy place, as Joanna on Fixer Upper says!
