Autumn: Buying Pumpkins and Mums

We love to support our local produce stand.  They are a family run business, English, not Amish,  along a busy state road, and they have expanded their offerings over the years.

I try not to buy pumpkins and Mums in September because the pumpkins will rot (it's usually still hot in September), and the mums will die.

With being away last week, today was my first chance to stop and purchase a few pumpkins, and mums.  I think I'll need more pumpkins though.

I'll show you next week where I am putting the pumpkins and mums here at the cottage.

How about you?  Do you decorate outside your home in the autumn?

  1. Piles of pumpkins and gourds always make me swoon!! I'm sure you had fun making your selections and deciding where to put everything! Yes, we decorate outside and inside with natural autumn bounty. And as much as I love Christmas decorating, a part of me is always sad to take away the pumpkins and mums for another year.

  2. Oh I love a home that is decorated outside for autumn (not the usual way...the attractive way) 😊. Some years I decorate more than others. This year, I have one solitary, terribly pedestrian yellow mum.

Looking forward to seeing what you will do with your pumpkins and mums. (It is always so tempting to grab them early, but as you say, it would not be prudent.)

  3. What fun to visit and select your autumn display items. Pumpkins and gourds in all shapes and sizes. I have two pumpkins on our front step. I have plans to scoop them out and have my hubby drill some holes in the sides. Then we'll put lights inside and it can glow through the holes. I saw a pic on FB where they made floral holes.

  5. I DO love all things fall!! I buy mine the very first moment they are available. Normally our pumpkins last the entire season and then I either cook them or feed them to the goats!
Your produce stand has good prices!
