Illness

www.allposters.com

This has been the summer of the virus at our cottage.

Rachel, Lindsay and Emily have all struggled with a virus that was basically sinus related but that caused a cough and terrible sore throat.  Then of course come the secondary illnesses that can come with viruses such as sinus infection and ear infection.  Emily started with it and when I took her to the doctor, she had a bulging eardrum!  The doctor thinks it still may burst, but she is feeling much better.

Rachel seemed on the mend, but then Wednesday night into early Thursday morning kept complaining of chest discomfort.  At first it seemed like a reflux type issue, but my the morning she was running a fever too.  After trying all my Mom skills in nursing her, I called the doctor's office and they could see her at 8:30 pm.  By then she was miserable.  Feverish, she kept saying she felt like she had to burp but couldn't etc...at the doctor's office she did throw up.

When our doctor came in he said "You look miserable" and proceeded to ask questions and check her out.  He kept listening to her lungs.  I thought "He must hear something." But he said he didn't, but he had his suspicions.  He sent us for a chest xray and sure enough, she has pneumonia!

No wonder she felt so bad!  She is on tylenol for fever and an antibiotic.  She slept with me last night and slept really well.

Thankfully Sarah and Kyle have been well.  But yesterday Kyle started with a fever....I'm thinking I am heading to the doctor's office again today, but we will see....

  1. Good Morning Sweetie...
I am so sorry to hear that the girls are having such a hard time of things. What a way to spend Summer vacation. I pray that you stay healthy through it all.

Mine started April 28th and I am still at home recovering. I spent 8 days in the hospital, and now I have no voice. I am so hoarse, the doctor has said no talking for 1 week. It just keeps hanging on. I hope for the girls sake theirs get better. I started out with pneumonia. This has been a bad year for people with their allergies and asthma.

I will keep the family in my prayers sweetie. Hang in there. Country hugs, Sherry

  2. Praying for your family this morning. I'm sure the oppressive humidity makes pneumonia even worse for poor Rachel.

Take care of your sweet babies. I just love them!

  5. Oh, poor Rachel! I hope she gets better soon. I hope that Kyle won't get too sick.

But, I am right there with ya. Nicholas has been running a fever today but says he feels cold and he's been really tired, but no other symptoms. If he's not better in the morning, I may be running to the doctor as well.
