Our Favorite Apple Pie Recipe

I copied this recipe from a friend over thirty years ago.  It's still our favorite.  I use real butter over margarine now though.  This recipe is made for a pie pan, there is no crust, but the topping is what is unique.  It's not a crumb topping.  It's wonderful.  I always make it in a 9x13 so I double everything except the cinnamon sugar that goes on the sliced up apples.  I do about 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.

Do you have tried and true recipes that you have been making for many years?

  2. I love an easy recipe, Deanna! My hubby's favourite pie is apple and I am going to make this maybe next week after I get my fruit cakes made and sent off to my boys. Thank you for sharing at my part and I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. This does look good! I am making an Apple Crisp Pizza for Thanksgiving, but I will definitely try this pie at some point. Years ago a friend gave me a recipe similar to this, but hers does not call for brown sugar (it uses white sugar). I like the idea of the brown sugar much better! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I love pulling out my old, often stained and tattered recipe cards for they represent a piece of delicious history. This looks like a wonderful take on an apple dessert. YUM!

  8. That pie looks delicious and the recipe card - I love old, stained, used recipe cards! They are treasures for sure. I'm making my grandma's pickles this afternoon. Even though our Thanksgiving get together is going to be very small this year, I'm still making the pickles for my Dad and my husband as they are a favorite and I'm sure they won't go to waste!

  13. My recipe, for Pie Crust. -smile-

According to family, it is the best!

    Oh this sounds wonderful!

Originally, I used Fluffo or whatever that shortening was. But switched to butter, when I finally realized, how BADDDDDD that shortening was.

  14. LOL, your recipe looks like 90% of mine...all crusty---and nummy laden with years of use! This totally looks marvelous---and I'll have to try this for Christmas...our pies (mom in laws) recipe is old and by memory now! Hugs, Sandi
