Autumn Is On My Mind

I really am not one to rush the seasons.  I've enjoyed summer very much.  But our weather is unseasonably cool for August, and everywhere I go I see trees already changing colors.  Our neighbors tree is looking so pretty, but its too early.

That said, it has put me in the mood to look at my Autumn Pinterest Board and share a few things with you.

I really love the contrast of the blue and white transferware with the orange pumpkin.

This is a photo that Lindsay took several years ago on our property.

Wouldn't you just love to take a walk here?  Sigh.  So beautiful.

Autumn is my favorite season, and I welcome it every year!  I have a sweet blogging friend who starts celebrating fall on September 1st every year!  She listens to Neil Diamond's 'September Morn' all day, and lights her fall candles and delights in decorating her home!

I love to be outside in the autumn as much as I can, the cooler weather invigorates me.  I love to decorate with natural things, and some faux items, too.  I love to wear sweaters, and have campfires, and get my boots out.

We host a huge Fall Fest every year, with games, and hay rides, and a bonfire, and outdoor movie.  We invite family and friends to share this fun time with us, and it is a highlight of the season for us!

So yeah, the forecast is for low 80's to upper 70's and 60's overnights for the next 10 days.  This weather is a gift and I'm loving it.  And I'm ready for it to get cooler, for the leaves to change in earnest, and to celebrate my favorite season!

Soon, my friends, soon!

Our nights have been getting quite cool - and days pleasant as well. I sometimes say autumn is MY favorite season, too (until a hard winter when I think spring is my favorite :)

It's been cooler here too, which is almost unheard of. It does make you have a little more energy and thought turn towards Autumn. It seems like as soon as August arrives, we think fall but part of that could be the early start of school here.

My son and I discussed this recently. I reminded him September 1st is the beginning of meteorological Fall. 😊

I like spring, too. I've enjoyed this summer even, but Autumn has my heart!

I think it is the fact we are back to school, too. And the cooler weather. We are usually cooking in August, and even September some years.

Yay! We can talk about Autumn without guilt! LOL!

I am right there with you! I bought candy corn and candy pumpkins to put in the dishes for September first. I dare not even unwrap them because we have one more Quad Monday before the First and I'm sure the kids wouldn't understand why they couldn't eat the candy yet! I bought a special coffee yesterday and I'm looking forward to having it for the first time and in my fall cup that I've had since 1991. I will light the Yankee pumpkin scented candle and listen to the first strains of Neil,Diamond .....and sigh a contented sigh. I love this tradition so much that I actually shed a tear of Thanksgiving every year. You know how it is when you so look forward to something and it's all built up in your mind and you can't wait for it to happen - and then it does! I know in real life, it's always a bit of a let down....but for some reason, all the things I look so forward to are even MORE wonderful than I expected. I thank God for that kind of blessing!
I won't say it - but you know in my heart that I'm already wishing you a happy fall and asking a God to give you the desires of your heart! Love you, my sweet friend!

I feel it too, Deanna and it's bumming me out, since winter is so long here and I am a summer girl. Of course, I do love the coziness of fall and will embrace it, but I am hoping for a few more weeks of barefoot summer sand and pool fun!
