I often look at furniture or silverplate flatware on FB Market Place. I don't often make a purchase but in the past I've bought my secretary and a tea cup from Market Place, and oh, and Sarah's desk, too.
Yesterday while looking a set of flatware was for sale and the person was local. I sent an inquiry as to whether it was still available. The price was excellent and so was the look of the Wm. Rogers silverplate. It came in a box, with a certificate of authenticity.
We arranged to meet and the sale was made. The seller was helping an elderly friend, twice widowed, go through her belongings and collections and par things down. The family are all out of state, and none of them wanted the silverplate flatware.

I've wanted silverplate flatware for years, and my patience has paid off. I know not everyone likes this kind of thing, heirloom quality items, but I love them. What about you? Do you love heirloom items like this?
(Oh yes! John found my set at the flea market and I do love it. I even used it for Thanksgiving dinner 2020.)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful flatware! I have my mother's silver that was a wedding present when she and my dad married in 1946. It is not in good shape-she never polished it or really used it much and I'm the same way, I'm afraid. I guess I need to get it out and see if it can be saved.
