Giving My Lanterns New Life

I was going to call this a Lantern Glow Up, but then I wasn't sure anyone would know what I was talking about! Are any of you like that with modern slang? Knowing what it means, but unsure about using it?

Here is dictionary.com's definition - Glow up is an informal term for a positive personal transformation, typically one involving significant changes in appearance and style and often also growth in confidence and maturity (and sometimes aspects of personal or professional life).

That's basically what happened to these lanterns.

Here are their before pictures. Most of these are not in bad shape in these photos, but had become pretty beat up from being outside in all seasons!

This was the last time they got a 'glow up!' Painting them all black.

These photos were all take three years ago. They were looking good in their black paint.

You can see that I used them in many different ways outdoors.

This photo shows that some of the lanterns had been red, and the tall one was a brownish color.

Anyway, enough of the befores!

Here is the after!

These are still in progress!

I wanted an antique gold or brass look and this can gave me that. Plus being Rust-Oleum it is helping with the rusty spots on a few of these lanterns.

As you can tell I brought the one inside and am loving it on the coffee table. The others will stay outdoors for use. When I am done with this project, I am going to repaint my round table, white not gold, and I have a few other small garden items that will get some paint as well, and those will be gold.

Have you given a 'glow up' to anything recently?

The link to the paint I used can be found {here}.

I haven't, but I have thought about it. Your lanterns look good in all their incarnations. 👏🏼

It's fun to change things up now and then! One thing I love about paint is that there is little risk. You can paint them again next season if you want another change! Hmmmm . . . did our back porch get a "glow up"?
