The Preliminary Addition Plans

We've received the preliminary plans from our builder, and will be meeting with him soon to go over any changes we want to make. There are a few things - sliding door shown in the wrong place, for example. Not major things.

Here is our house with the elevations currently.

Here are the elevations after the addition is built.

I know it is hard to tell but we're moving the kitchen to a new space. This way the kitchen can be fully accessed from their suite without having to come into our portion of the house. This is important to them.

The men are all very excited about the garage, and I'm excited about the kitchen!

The appliance layout on the plans is not where I want them. This photo is one of my inspiration photos. Not the color but the look. Probably smaller backsplash tiles but I want a nice range hood, and counter space to cook. I like that the sink is to the left and for us would look out onto the deck and pool areas.

I definitely want a wooden work table in the kitchen, and we have trees and the barn which would be seen out the windows.  The cabinets are perfect, but I may want wooded countertops.

Moving the kitchen will also give us more room for seating in the living room.

This long talked about plan is becoming a reality, and it is exciting for us all!

So wonderful to be able to accommodate your parents in your home, with a central kitchen area, and their own living area. What a blessing that you can be so involved with your parents, your children, and grandchildren's lives! Looking forward to seeing how your new addition progresses! Love your inspiration photo! Happy New Year!
